Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation or CPR

Every year, 350,000 people die from cardiac arrest in the United States. Big number. Bigger opportunity. With your help, we can bring
that number down to zero.
As it is sometimes refer to is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest.

Why Is CPR Important?

Globally, the incidence of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest ranges from 20 to 140 per 100 000 people, and survival ranges from 2% to 11%.2 In the United States, 500 000 children and adults experience a cardiac arrest, and less15% survive.

CPR is an incredible life-saving technique that can make all the difference in an emergency situation! By performing chest compressions and rescue breaths, you can help circulate oxygenated blood throughout the body until medical help arrives. It's amazing how knowing CPR can give you the power to save someone's life!

Keeping the blood flow active – even partially – extends the opportunity for a successful resuscitation once trained medical staff arrive on site.

CHEST CPR

CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It's an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions with artificial ventilation in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest.

AED stands for "automated external defibrillator." It's a portable device that can be used to deliver an electric shock to the heart to help restore its normal rhythm in cases of sudden cardiac arrest. AEDs are designed to be used by laypeople or trained individuals in emergency situations, and they can significantly improve the chances of survival for someone experiencing cardiac arrest.

First aid refers to the immediate care given to a person who has been injured or suddenly taken ill. It aims to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and promote recovery. Basic first aid procedures can include assessing the situation, providing CPR if needed, controlling bleeding, treating shock, and more. It's important to have a basic understanding of first aid techniques, as they can be crucial in emergencies before professional help arrives.

Babysitting CPR, often referred to as pediatric CPR, is a modified version of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) tailored to infants and children. The steps are similar to adult CPR but with some differences due to the smaller size and unique needs of young children

stop the bleed

"Stop the bleed" is a term used to describe the immediate actions taken to control bleeding in an emergency situation, such as a traumatic injury. The goal is to prevent excessive blood loss and increase the chances of survival until medical help arrives.

Occupational work environment refers to the physical, social, and organizational conditions in which people work. It includes factors such as the layout of the workspace, the equipment used, the hours worked, the physical and chemical exposures, the work practices and policies, and the interpersonal relationships within the workplace. A healthy and safe work environment is crucial for the well-being and productivity of employees."

Bloodborne Pathogens

bloodborne

Bloodborne pathogens are infectious microorganisms in human blood that can cause disease in humans. These pathogens include, but are not limited to, hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Needlesticks and other sharps-related injuries may expose workers to bloodborne pathogens.

Evacuation Planning

evacuation plan

Evacuation planning is the process of developing a plan to safely and efficiently evacuate people from a building or area in the event of an emergency. This includes identifying evacuation routes, establishing assembly points, and ensuring that all necessary resources are available to facilitate the evacuation.

Emergency response coordination

exit plan

Emergency response coordination refers to the process of organizing and managing resources during an emergency situation. This includes coordinating emergency services, communicating with the public, and ensuring that all necessary resources are available to respond to the emergency. Effective emergency response coordination is essential for minimizing the impact of an emergency and ensuring the safety of those affected.

Opioids
Emergencies

opioied emergencies

Opioids are a class of drugs that are commonly used to relieve pain. They work by binding to specific receptors in the brain and spinal cord, reducing the perception of pain. Opioids can be highly addictive and can cause a range of side effects, including drowsiness, nausea, and constipation. It's important to use opioids only as directed by a healthcare provider and to be aware of the risks associated with these medications.

Hazardous Material Response

hazard materials respnonse

Hazardous material response refers to the procedures and actions taken to mitigate the risks associated with the release of hazardous materials. This can include identifying the type of material, containing the release, and safely disposing of the material. It is important to have a plan in place for hazardous material response to ensure the safety of individuals and the environment.

Confined Space Awareness

CONFINED SPACE

Confined space awareness refers to the knowledge and understanding of the potential hazards associated working in confined spaces. This includes understanding the risks of oxygen deficiency, toxic gases, and physical hazards such as entrapment or engulfment. It is important for workers to be trained in confined space awareness to ensure their safety and prevent accidents.

Rope
Res
cue Awareness

rope awarenss

Rope rescue awareness is a critical skill for anyone working at height or in confined spaces. This training provides an understanding of the equipment and techniques used in rope rescue scenarios, as well as the hazards and risks associated with these situations. By completing this course, you'll be better equipped to identify and mitigate potential hazards, and respond effectively in the event of an emergency.

Incident Command System

INCIDENT COMMAND CENTER

The Incident Command System (ICS) is a standardized approach to the command, control, and coordination of emergency response. It provides a common hierarchy within which responders from multiple agencies can work together effectively. The ICS is used by all levels of government, as well as by many private-sector and non-governmental organizations.

Incipient Fire Fighting

INCIPENT FIRE FIGHING

Inciptient fire fighting is a crucial skill that can save lives and property. It involves identifying and extinguishing fires in their early stages, before they have a chance to spread and cause significant damage. Whether you are a professional firefighter or a concerned citizen, learning the basics of incipient fire fighting can help you protect yourself and those around you in the event of a fire emergency.
